TEAM EQUIPMENT

  • Compass 2 Silva type & at least 10cm baseplate
  • Torch 2 Filament - min. lens diameter 3.5 cm.or LED - at least 3 LEDs
  • Food  Two lunches and two main meals, at least one hot
  • Cooker 2 Provided by Group
  • Fuel 2 Provided by Group
  • First aid kit 2 Plasters (6cms), zinc oxide plaster (2.5 cm), 2 bandages
  • (10 cm), 2 triangular bandages, 2 Melonin gauze dressings,
  • antiseptic wipes, blunt-nosed scissors, sun screen, insect
  • repellant, Calamine cream, pain killers

INDIVIDUAL EQUIPMENT - EACH TEAM MEMBER

  • Rucksack 1 No more than 65 litres, 15 Kg (33 lb) load)+C16 or 25% body weight
  • Rucksack liner 1 Waterproof and substantial
  • Sleeping bag 1 At least 3 Season - In separate waterproof bag
  • Survival bag 1 Body length and heavy duty plastic
  • Water bottle 1 Stout construction and good stopper. Platypus system okay
  • Sterilisation tabs.  48 hrs  Check 'use by' date
  • Whistle 1 Preferably non-metalic and withoput a pea.
  • Emergency food 1 pack Hot drink, meal and high energy food sealed in waterproof bag
  • Roll mat 1 Body length

CLOTHING - 2 SETS ONE TO WEAR, OTHER SEALED IN WATERPROOF BAGS

  • Boots 1 pr. With ankle support and Vibram-type soles
  • Socks 2 pr Extra pairs are useful
  • Base layer 2 Wicking type - cotton T-shirt acceptable but not preferred
  • Shirt 2 Long sleeved and substantial - thick rugby shirt or sweat shirt
  • Trousers 2 Robust, windproof, quick-drying - e.g. army type light weight greens
  • Jersey/fleece 2 Or 2 light-weight jerseys or sweatshirts
  • Waterproofs:  Robust material, waterproof, windproof & taped seams
  • Jacket with hood 1 with attached hood. Strong as will be worn under heavy rucksack
  • Trousers 1 able to pull on over boots
  • Headgear 1 Warm to cover head and ears
  • Gloves 1 pr
  • Extra socks  at least one extra pair strongly recommended
  • Spare laces 1 Strongly recommended
  • Gaiters 1pr Essential
  • Sun hat 1 Depending on forecast
  • Sun glasses 1 Depending on forecast
  • Matches  Either waterproof matches or sealed in waterproof container
  • Utensils 1 Bowl, mug, knife, fork, spoon (according to type of meal)
  • Small penknife 1 No sheath knives
  • Strong string 10m/tent grp.
  • Trail snacks  High energy - chocolate/fruit/nuts
  • Watch 1 Essential
  • Torch 1 Spare batteries and bulb - lens ideally 3.5 cm dia. or 3 LEDs
  • Compass 1 Silva type & preferably at least 10cm baseplate
  • Map 1:25,000 1 2 provided by Group, but bring your own if you can
  • Map case 1 Not necessary with laminated maps
  • Route plan 1 Provided by Group
  • Pencil/paper 1
  • OHP pen 2/tent grp.
  • First aid kit 1 Small including blister treatment e.g. Compede
  • Toilet paper  Essential
  • Trowel 1/tent grp.
