South Brent Dartmoor

 

South Brent is a large village on the southern edge of Dartmoor.

The Parish is the second largest (after Cornwood) in South Hams and 6th largest (after Ivybridge, Totnes, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Bickleigh).

The village was originally a woollen and market centre now the village centre is within Dartmoor National Park, and it is a thriving community with shops, businesses, school, village hall and community centre.

South Brent carvical takes place each November and is one of the the largest processsions in South Devon.

Dartmoor National Park

Dartmoor National Park LogoDartmoor was designated a National Park by statute in 1951. It is 368 square miles (954 sq km) in area, has about 33,400 people living in it, and millions of people visit it each year. The Dartmoor National Park Authority was created in 1974.
